Computer security check
If you’ve been scammed or noticed suspicious activity, I’ll check for viruses, malware and unwanted remote-access software. I can also review your browser and email settings, remove anything unsafe and help you secure your accounts.
Data backup
I can arrange automatic backups to an external drive, secure cloud storage or both. I’ll supply or configure suitable equipment and software, check that everything is working and show you how to confirm your files are protected.
Data recovery
If files have been deleted or a computer has failed, I may be able to recover documents, photographs and other information from hard drives, USB sticks and external drives. I’ll assess the device carefully to avoid further damage.
Data recovery - advanced
When a drive has physically failed, makes unusual noises or is no longer detected, I can arrange specialist cleanroom recovery. You’ll receive a no-obligation quotation before deciding whether to proceed, and I’ll manage the process for you.
Data transfer
I’ll move documents, photographs, music, emails, contacts and browser favourites to your new computer, phone or storage device. I’ll preserve the organisation where possible, check that files open correctly and make sure nothing important has been missed.
Digital security check
I’ll review your passwords, online accounts, security settings, antivirus protection and backups for potential weaknesses. I can also enable two-factor authentication, secure your Wi-Fi and suggest straightforward ways to reduce the risk of future problems.
Family online safety
I can set up parental controls, safer searches, content filters and screen-time limits to help protect younger family members. I’ll also explain privacy settings, common online risks and ways to encourage safer internet use.
Hard drive duplication
I can copy your existing drive—including Windows, programs, settings and files—onto a larger or faster replacement. This allows everything to look and work as before, while an SSD upgrade can also provide a noticeable improvement in performance.
Secure data wiping
Before selling, recycling or disposing of a computer or drive, I can securely erase the information so it cannot be recovered through normal means. Proof of erasure can also be provided when additional reassurance is required.
